The X Factor looks set for another big shake-up. Nick Grimshaw has confirmed his decision to quit the ITV show after just one series. The Radio 1 presenter joined the judging panel last year alongside pop star Rita Ora, but has opted not to return in 2016."After careful consideration, Nick's decided to rule himself out as a judge on this year's X Factor," a spokesperson for the 31-year-old said.

Nick Grimshaw has announced his decision to step down as an X Factor judge

"He loved working on last year's series alongside Rita, Cheryl and Simon but it was very much a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He remains a massive fan of the show and is looking forward to watching it this year. "Meanwhile, it is also being reported that Caroline Flack has been axed as a presenter on the show. She is understood to have paid the price for criticism from viewers when she and Olly Murs hosted the show last year.Furthermore, the star is thought to be in talks for a role in a West End revival of Chicago, a time commitment that would prevent her taking part in another X Factor series anyway.

Simon, 56, regularly changes the line-up of the show, especially the judging panel. Possible incoming judges could include X Factor favourite Louis Walsh or One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, who has previously indicated he would be interested in the job.An X Factor spokesperson insisted that nothing has been decided yet about who would be stepping in. "Nick was a great mentor on last year's series," they added. "He did a fantastic job with the boys' category and we'd like to thank him for all his hard work. We are sad to see him go but wish him all the best. "Details for the new series of The X Factor are still being discussed and will be announced in due course."
