One Chicago is reportedly headed for changes in the upcoming seasons of its shows: Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med.

According to Deadline, the franchise's producers Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment have reached an agreement with NBC on budgets that will keep the shows on air for another season, but will mean the main cast will appear in fewer episodes.

The outlet states that the episodic guarantees – the number of episodic fees each series regular is entitled to per season – are being renegotiated and are going down, meaning the cast members are set to appear in around 18-20 episodes per season, rather than the standard 22.

The report comes amid the news that all three shows in the franchise have been renewed for another season

Creator of the One Chicago franchise, Dick Wolf, said in a statement: "I'm pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC."

Referencing Law and Order, another franchise he created, he added: "All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I'd also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons."

One star who may be absent from the upcoming season of Chicago Fire is Taylor Kinney, who is currently taking a break from his role on the show.

The actor, who plays Lieutenant Kelly Severide in the drama, stepped away from the drama earlier this year to deal with a personal matter.

His character has since been written out of the show for season 11, with the 41-year-old's last episode airing in March in a storyline that saw Severide leave the Windy City for a prestigious OFI training camp in Alabama.
