Timothy Dalton might have only played James Bond twice, but the star remains a firm favourite with fans, bringing the Bond series back to its gritty roots following films more rooted in comedy.

Timothy's time as the super spy also marked a change in how Bond girls were perceived. While in previous entries, many had fulfilled the role of a damsel in distress, Timothy's Bond girls were often forces to be reckoned with, playing key roles in helping Bond in his missions.

Despite his low movie count, Timothy still romanced four actresses as Bond, but have you ever wondered what happened to the glamorous women? Scroll down to find out…

British actress Maryam played the cellist in the film

Maryam d'Abo – Kara Milovy

Maryam played Kara Milovy in Timothy's first Bond film, a cellist and the girlfriend of villain General Georgi Koskov. However, after learning about Georgi's true colours, Kara ends up falling for Bond, assisting him in his mission.

The Living Daylights was Maryam's first starring role in a film, after previously having acted in Xtro, Until September and If Tomorrow Comes. The film helped to revolutionise the star's career, and she subsequently landed leading roles in series like Something Is Out There.

The star, now aged 65, also appeared in Murder, She Wrote, An American Affair, Helen of Troy, Dorian Gray and Tigers. Maryam still has an active career, and last year, she played the Mother Superior in gothic horror film The Baby in the Basket.

In 2003, Maryam married Oscar-nominated director Hugh Hudson, who was best known for Chariots of Fire. The couple remained married for 20 years until Hugh died on 10 February 2023. In 2007, Maryam underwent surgery for a brain haemorrhage, but she has since fully recovered.

Reflecting on her time in the franchise, Maryam previously told The Guardian: "I take responsibility for not having had enough confidence. I was quite shy. I hadn't been a child actor. But I'm not blaming Bond for screwing up my career. I'll never regret it."

Belle played a minor role in the film

Belle Avery – Linda

Belle had a very small role in The Living Daylights, playing Linda, who caught Bond's eye after he parachuted onto her luxury yacht following a training exercise gone wrong in Gibraltar. The character memorably spoke of her desire for a "real man" before meeting Bond.

While Belle had a small acting career, she is more remembered as a film producer, with credits including The Meg, My Sexiest Year and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

Carey was the no-nonsense pilot Pam in Licence to Kill

Carey Lowell – Pam Bouvier

Carey shot to fame when she starred in 1989's Licence to Kill as Pam Bouvier, a former Army pilot and informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration. Her skills as a pilot proved vital for Bond as he sought to take down drugs kingpin Franz Sanchez.

Following the film, Carey, now 65, featured in films like Sleepless in Seattle, Love Affair and Fierce Creatures, but her largest role came in the Law & Order franchise. Carey starred as ADA Jamie Ross in the show between 1996 and 2001, reprising the role briefly in 2022; she also appeared in two episodes of the show's spin-off: Trial by Jury.

The star has been married three times, including with photographer John Stember and actors Griffin Dunne and Richard Gere. Carey is the mother of actress Hannah Dunne, who she shares with Griffin, and a son who she shares with Richard. When the couple divorced in 2016, they entered into highly contested divorce proceedings, which was ultimately settled in October 2016.

Talisa was a model before starring in Licence to Kill

Talisa Soto – Lupe Lamora

Talisa starred as Lupe Lamora in 1989's Licence to Kill. The character was the girlfriend of drugs baron Franz Sanchez, but she sought escape from her cruel partner. Although she falls for Bond, by the end of the film, she becomes smitten with Hector Lopez, the president of Isthmus.

Talisa, now 58, started her life as a model, featuring on the covers of Vogue, Elle and Glamour and appearing in campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein, Revlon and Versace. However, in the late 1980s, she pivoted into acting, making her debut in The Pope of Greenwich Village as an uncredited dancer.

Licence to Kill marked the star's fourth on-screen appearance, and she has since gone on to appear in The Mambo Kings, Island of the Dead and La Mission. Her biggest role since the Bond franchise was as Princess Kitana in 1995's Mortal Kombat, which was based on the highly popular video game series of the same name, and its 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Talisa married actor Costas Mandylor in 1997, but they divorced three years later. While filming on Pinero in 2001, she became romantically involved with her co-star, Benjamin Bratt, who she had met ten years previously at a casting audition. The pair married in 2002 and have since welcomed daughter Sophia and son Mateo.
