From a quiet childhood in a sleepy suburb to the heady heights of Hollywood fame, the British actress Kelly Reilly has come a long way.
Over the past eight years, fans have grown to relish her ballistic outbursts as Beth Dutton, the only daughter of the formidable Dutton family, first in the TV series Yellowstone and now in its spin-off, Dutton Ranch.
“Beth will get her teeth out. She’s like a badger! She'll take your throat out,” says the Chessington-born actress, 49, whose on-screen rants are arguably even juicier than those of Brian Cox’s Logan Roy in Succession.
In reality, however, there is very little of Beth’s fiery personality in Kelly, who is soft-spoken and reflective. Even the blonde hair isn’t her own – the actress prefers to protect her natural red locks with a wig for the role.
One thing she does have in common with her character is a love of horses and the great outdoors.
Dreaming of the country
“I have a little bit of land in England, and one day in my future – when I'm not busy leaving it all the time and I can be there to really look after it – I want to have a place with animals, where I'm not handing it over to somebody else to look after,” Kelly says.
“I’d want to do it myself. My dream is to fill that land with some horses and a little vineyard, because where I live in West Sussex, there are all these beautiful sparkling-wine vineyards popping up, which are amazing.
The love of her life
Kelly divides her time between her home in the UK and an apartment in New York that she shares with her husband, the financier Kyle Baugher.
“He’s the love of my life and our marriage is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me,” Kelly says.
