Saoirse Ronan has addressed speculation regarding her husband Jack Lowden's potential casting as the next 007. The Bad Apples actress, 32, who has been married to the Slow Horses star since 2024, revealed that the topic rarely comes up at home.
The search for the next James Bond commenced in May, with Jack, 36, among the rumoured contenders following Daniel Craig's exit from the franchise after No Time to Die.
Speaking to the Associated Press on Sunday, Saoirse addressed the ongoing rumours. "Well, Gary Oldman thinks he's James Bond," she said, referencing the Harry Potter actor's recent remarks about keeping his "fingers crossed" for his co-star.
"[That's] its own thing," she continued. "We're kind of getting on with our life, to be honest. We have plenty of other things to be dealing with. So, yeah, it's not really a subject that's coming up in our house, to be honest. The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made – we're most focused on that."
The Oscar-nominated actress, who shares a one-year-old child with Jack, added that he's currently filming Slow Horses, and is "having a good time on that".
Saoirse Ronan's Bond villain dreams
Saoirse's latest comments come just two months after she expressed her hopes of playing a Bond villain.
"I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I'm dead serious,” the Little Women star told Empire magazine in August. "I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain."
She added: "Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there's something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that."
Who else is in the running to play James Bond?
A long list of A-list names has been linked to the role, including Masters of the Air actor Callum Turner, Wuthering Heights star Jacob Elordi, Happy Valley's James Norton, Normal People actor Paul Mescal and Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson.
The role has been played by six actors, including Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.
Daniel Craig, who starred in five films over 15 years (the longest tenure of any actor in the franchise), made his debut in 2006's Casino Royale.
Were Jack Lowden to land the role, he'd be the second Scottish actor to play 007 after Sean Connery, who starred in seven films.
