Looking uncannily like Carrie Bradshaw on Thursday evening, the eternally stylish Sarah Jessica Parker delighted fans on the red carpet at the 2026 New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.
Channelling her famed fashion-loving alter ego, SJP donned a beautiful floral, semi-sheer gown laced with ribbons by Simone Rocha. The stunning design personified her individual look, but it was her cascading Rapunzel mane that truly stole the show.
In keeping with the ribbons of her dress, as she turned around, onlookers caught a glimpse of her thigh-length hair; the longest it's ever been.
The mother of three is known for sporting long, slightly curled tresses, but this new transformation was even longer. It featured the same blush pink ribbons that were woven through her dress, creating an enchanting look.
How to embrace long hair as you age
For many years, women felt that longer hair was a sign of youth, and shorter styles were once considered the unwritten rule for women over 40 - a somewhat unfair, age-appropriate beauty rite of passage. However, in the last five years, women have been embracing longer styles, turning their backs on this dated approach.
The A-list has been at the forefront of this trend. Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts and Pamela Anderson are all sporting beautiful, healthy, mermaid-style tresses as they approach their 60s.
"Although hair does age just like our skin, it can be kept in wonderful condition and look full of lustre and vibrancy as we age," hairstylist Paul Windle of elite salon Windle London previously told HELLO!.
The key, Paul said, is colour maintenance. "I think it’s wonderful if someone wants to let the grey grow in, but I also think colour is a great way to give your hair vibrancy and even experiment with edgy creative colours. A good cut is essential and can make such a difference to the shape and texture of the hair, making it more flattering and in better condition with regular cuts," he noted.
There are certain cuts that can make the most of your hair as you age. "Face framing, for example, can really soften longer hair and be very flattering; it's also great if you want to experiment with styling, tying back or putting up your hair. We are seeing the continued popularity of curtain fringe/bangs, too," Paul mused.
