Is this why Rylan's not back on This Morning?

Rylan Clark normally covers for Phillip Schofield, but hasn't been on the show recently

Philip Schofield has been notably absent from the This Morning sofa amid his brother Timothy Schofield's court trial, with the presenter being covered by various other familiar faces.

Alison Hammond appeared alongside Holly Willoughby on Monday and Tuesday last week, while Wednesday and Thursday saw comedian and The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett join as a guest host.

One regular stand-in who hasn't appeared on the show in Phil's absence is Rylan Clark. Rylan often takes over hosting duties when the usual This Morning hosts are on holiday, often sitting alongside Ruth Langsford, and fans wonder why the star hasn't been called upon to cover.

Taking to Twitter, Rylan might have explained why we haven't seen him on TV, sharing that he's not been feeling well, which would certainly make presenting difficult.

Posting alongside a GIF of Queen Charlotte from Bridgerton shooing someone away, Rylan wrote: "Oh hay fever! How are ya mate? Cheers for coming over… [expletive]," suggesting he's been hit with hay fever symptoms.

Given that he's been struck by his allergies, it's no surprise Rylan hasn't been gracing our screens, with anyone who experiences hay fever well aware that the symptoms are far worse than a few sneezes, and can feel as bad as flu.

Rylan has spoken about his allergies in previous years, explaining in 2020 that he normally manages his hay fever symptoms with Kenalog injections and the antihistamine Fexofenadine.

He also shared his allergy woes in 2019, posting a photo of himself with rolled-up tissue stuffed up his nose, writing: "It's not attractive but this is the only way to calm my hay fever at the min. What a state."
