Jamie Oliver's 12-year-old son Buddy is taking after his TV chef dad with his own YouTube series Cooking Buddies, and now proud Jamie has spoken about Buddy's future career.

Opening up about his talented son in a new interview with MailOnline, dad-of-five Jamie revealed that Buddy hasn't yet decided on his life path (he is only 12 after all) but should he decide to be a chef, Jamie wants him to earn his trade first.

Jamie, 47, who shares Poppy, 21, Daisy, 20, Petal, 14, Buddy, 12, and River, six, with wife Jools, referred to how he trained his young staff at his fifteen restaurants, teaching them both the practical aspects of cooking as well as having them meet food growers.

He said: "We put these kids in front of amazing farmers and artisans, fishermen and producers, that's what changes you and I'd definitely do that with Buddy, if he wanted to go down that route. He would earn his trade for sure."

Despite Buddy's 133k subscribers to his YouTube channel, Jamie told the paper that his son doesn't go on the social media site and his culinary skills are the standard they are due to practice. The young chef could fillet a mackerel at age ten!

The Olivers are recently back from a dream family holiday in the Maldives, where Jamie and Jools renewed their wedding vows.

The couple, who have been married for 23 years, had originally planned to say 'I do' again on their milestone 20th anniversary, but their vow renewal was delayed for three years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jamie told hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty: "I wanted to do it on the 20-year anniversary, which was three years ago. Covid obviously put an end to that, and I just felt that with the kids leaving school and going to university – I have got two in Leeds at uni – it was just a nice moment to let them know that their parents are tight and we love them."

Their heartwarming beachside nuptials technically marked the couple's third wedding celebration.

Jamie and Jools first wed in June 2000 at All Saints Church in Essex and celebrated their marriage again at their tenth wedding anniversary party, which saw Jools wear another bridal gown.
