Prince William has been branded a "beautiful human" after his interaction with a four-week-old baby, which took place on Tuesday during an engagement in Ilminster. The royal, who is a dad of three, was also on hand to offer up light-hearted advice for the new mum.
In the video above, William can be seen meeting the tiny newborn, and he asked: "How old?" When the mum replied, "Four weeks," he exclaimed, "Four weeks!" He then proceeded to ask if it was her "first one" and when he discovered it was her second, he waved his hand in the air and said: "Dab hand," in a reassuring tone.
The talk then turned to sleep, as it does with most parents, and when discovering the little one isn't the best sleeper, he jokingly instructed the woman: "Don't move," as the baby was sound asleep on her during the whole interaction.
When the clip circulated online, fans praised William for stopping to speak to the parent. One wrote: "William is a beautiful human being who is so much like his Mum was," and another added: "This is why people love William. So natural and caring, asking about the baby sleeping! Future king with such a kind heart."
Broody Princess Catherine
It may have been a good thing that Princess Catherine didn't join William on this particular engagement, as she's well known for her fondness for babies and getting broody, especially with the tiny newborns.
In February 2022, the royal admitted she felt "broody" as she chatted with parents and their babies at Copenhagen's Children's Museum and joked that her husband worries about her working with under-one-year-olds because she returns home wanting "another one".
Then in May 2022, as she cooed over a cute baby crawling in front of her during a visit to a school in Glasgow, William quipped: "Can you get my wife out of here before she gets broody?"
The couple first became parents in July 2013, when they welcomed Prince George at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The couple's daughter, Princess Charlotte, arrived at the same hospital two years later, followed by their second son, Prince Louis, in April 2018.
It sounds like a fourth child is not completely off the agenda for the Princess, although she did struggle in her pregnancies with a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe sickness during pregnancy.
Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in February 2020, the royal opened up about the horrible experience:
"[It was] utterly rotten. I was really sick. I wasn't eating the things I should be eating and yet the body was still able to take all the goodness from my body and to grow new life, which I think is fascinating."
Her testing time in pregnancy caused her to actually "like" labour. "Because it had been so bad during pregnancy, I actually really quite liked labour… Because actually it was an event that I knew there was going to be an ending to!" she said.
