Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of disgraced former prince, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, was reportedly shunned by the late Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Philip

The 66-year-old mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie was declared a "persona non grata" by her father-in-law, who supposedly disliked her before she married his son, Andrew, also 66.

Sarah and Andrew tied the knot on 23 July 1986; however, they announced their separation in 1992 and their divorce was finalised on 30 May 1996.

During the latest episode of the podcast The Firm: Blood, Lies and Royal Succession, royal biographer Jane Dismore revealed Philip's disdain for Sarah before she was officially part of the Royal Family.

The biographer explained: "She’s the one person that Prince Philip would not have anything to do with. He didn’t like Fergie – she knew that she wasn’t welcome when Prince Philip was around."

Jane continued sharing the general feelings of palace staff towards the former duchess. She said: "Ferguson’s idea of being royal was best summed up by one of the courtiers who said, 'vulgar, vulgar, vulgar'. She hadn’t an idea of what being royal really meant. It wasn't just the awful lapses of judgment. It was an attitude to royal life."

Sarah's departure from royal life

Following revelations about Sarah and Andrew's friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew's arrest earlier this year, the former duchess has been lying low and staying away from the spotlight.

The pair were evicted from Royal Lodge following the release of the so-called 'Epstein Files' in the United States, and they were also stripped of all of their royal titles.

As a result, they have been uninvited to the wedding of Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling.

A friend of the couple exclusively told HELLO!: "Peter and Harriet's wedding is an intimate occasion with their close friends and immediate family around them in the Cotswolds. It’s an area where they grew up and is very special to them both.

"When and whether Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had been invited, it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite them. It’s Peter and Harriet’s special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day."
