The Princess of Wales was spotted with a mystery injury during her visit to a children's hospital on Monday.

Kate, 44, was seen with a light graze on her leg as she departed the Evelina Children's Hospital in London.

The royal looked glamorous in a white buttoned shirt dress from Suzannah London, which had a split at the knee, at one point revealing a small graze as the fabric moved in the wind.

It's not known how the Princess obtained the cut, but she's been very active in recent weeks and has spent a lot of time outdoors for her Three Peaks mountain-climbing challenge.

The Waleses are known to be an outdoorsy family, and they also have a young puppy called Otto, a cocker spaniel who celebrated his first birthday in May. Maybe he's been jumping up!

Kate was visiting the hospital to learn about its new plans to transform it into London's most comprehensive and integrated children's hospital.

The Princess of Wales' history of injuries

The Princess was seen sporting a small plaster wrapped around her right thumb during a Buckingham Palace reception in April, which marked what would have been the late Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday.

Kate has previously been seen wearing plasters after injuries sustained while playing with her three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight.

For example, Kate also wore a plaster during a visit to Hull in 2023 after injuring herself on her children's trampoline.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said at the time it was a "small injury, nothing serious".

Kate also has a three-inch scar running across her temple on the left-hand side of her head, from a childhood operation.

Kate's visit to Evelina London

On Monday, Kate was welcomed to Evelina London Children’s Hospital by its chief executive, Gubby Ayida, as she began a tour meeting patients and families who have already benefited from changes.

She was wearing a bracelet which appeared to be made from string, made for her by her daughter Princess Charlotte when she undertook her recent Three Peaks Challenge.

The future Queen is the hospital’s patron and has visited several times over the years to get updates about its progress and last made a trip in 2023 to open its children’s day centre.

Evelina London is expanding its services to meet increasing demand, and plans are underway for a new hospital building next to the existing site, expected to open in the early 2030s.

Gubby said after the visit: "She’s brilliant with the children, she always lights up the place for the children when they come in.

"And some of them are quite sick, because we are a specialist hospital, so a day like this is really very special to them."
