King Charles and Princess Anne were keen to continue their royal duties, despite being in the same city as the monarch's estranged son, Prince Harry.
Despite only miles separating them, the King and his sister hosted a reception at St James's Palace, marking The King's Award for Enterprise. Joining the royal pair were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Peter Kyle, the Business and Trade Secretary.
The awards honour people in five categories, young founder, innovation, international trade, sustainability and promoting opportunity through social mobility.
At the reception, Charles and Anne were seen interacting with some of the lucky winners. Charles looked dapper in a light grey suit, while his sister resembled a 'fairy godmother' in an enchanting dress, completed by a pair of white gloves.
The Duke was joined by his wife, the Duchess of Gloucester, who looked splendid in a black-and-white dress, and at one point, the pair were locked in a deep conversation with Peter Kyle.
The reception wasn't Charles' only engagement on Wednesday, as the monarch opened the new headquarters of the British Transport Police at Buckingham Palace Road. He also met staff members from the organisation, including those who were among the first on the scene at the Bedford train collision, which took place in Elstow.
Anne also had a characteristically busy day, attending the 50th anniversary awards dinner for the Royal Academy of Engineering at Raffles London. She also visited the Royal Motor Yacht Club and Citizens Advice Hart before opening a new housing development at 1-5 Church Fields in Stockbridge.
Prince Harry's day
The Duke of Sussex was also busy carrying out engagements on Wednesday, including a stop at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, where he avoided the media following the loss of his court case against Associated Newspapers Limited.
Harry then attended a meeting with international Team Managers in planning ahead of the upcoming Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham in 2027. He also joined a strategy session with former Invictus Games hosts and partners for the future of the Invictus Movement.
To complete his day, Harry held a series of planning events ahead of this year's inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards. The awards will celebrate "the remarkable individuals and organisations who embody resilience, service, and the unconquered spirit at the heart of our global community".
