We've only just got to August, but it's already been a long, hot summer, with heatwave after heatwave rolling into the UK.
One place that never quite reaches the heady high temperatures is Scotland, with the northerly country remaining remarkably cooler than the south of England – and this chill caught up with Princess Charlotte at the weekend, with the young royal looking rather cold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday.
As the Princess sat with her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, onlookers said she appeared "cold in her white and black polka dot dress."
© Getty ImagesIndeed, the lightweight ruffled dress wasn't an ideal choice for Glasgow on Saturday, where the temperature sat around 17 degrees Celsius, compared to her home in Windsor, where it was 25 degrees Celsius.
Shivering Charlotte
It wasn't just royal watchers that noticed that Princess Charlotte appeared cold – the Commonwealth Games' mascot, a unicorn named Finnie, appeared to imitate the 11-year-old, mimicking her shivers, before Prince William intervened and offered a fist bump to the mascot.

Princess Charlotte's summer dress
The young royal looked picture perfect for the sporting event, but she was dressed notably more summery than her parents and brothers.

Coordinating Wales women
While her mother went for a warmer take on the outfit, Princess Charlotte's ensemble did match beautifully with Princess Catherine's, with both royal ladies opting for nautical colour schemes.
This seems to be a trend for Princess Charlotte. Back in 2022, when the games were held in Birmingham, a then seven-year-old Charlotte wore a naval-inspired blue and white striped dress to attend the event.
© GettyThe royal's outfits for more casual outings, such as the Commonwealth Games, tend to err more on the modern side than events such as Trooping the Colour, which see her dressed in typically royal attire – but her own style shone through when Princess Charlotte greeted her mother following her Three Peaks Challenge.
Gone were the pretty dresses we're used to seeing her in, with modern jeans and blue and orange Adidas Gazelle trainers, proving she has a keen eye for what's trending.
