King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark resurfaced from their summer break over the weekend for a very special family occasion. The royal couple, who spend their summers at Gråsten Palace in southern Jutland, returned to the limelight for Frederik's godson's wedding on Saturday.

Gregers Carl Preben Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille tied the knot with his partner Cecilie Juhl at Kværndrup Kirke, a historic church located on the island of Funen, on 22 August. The bride looked lovely in a floor-length white gown with a sweeping train and long lace sleeves, reminiscent of the gorgeous Alexander McQueen dress the Princess of Wales wore to her 2011 wedding to Prince William.

Cecilie wore her hair half up and kept perfectly in place with the Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille Tiara. The diamond floral tiara is an heirloom from her husband's side and has been in the Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille family since around the 19th century, with its exact origins not known. The tiara was previously worn by the groom's stepmother, Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, for her wedding to Count Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille in 2019.

Frederik and Mary celebrate special family occasion

Frederik, who is Gregers' godfather, looked dapper in a suit for the society wedding, which he attended alongside his wife Mary.

Denmark's queen looked lovely for the occasion in a pink pleated chiffon gown with bell sleeves by luxury New York designer Mikael Aghal, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. Mary complemented her wedding guest look with a matching pink Prada purse and pink leather Gianvito Rossi heels.

The royal had her hair fashioned in an elegant updo beneath the Edwardian Tiara.

Following the ceremony, guests continued on to a closed celebration at Egeskov Castle, which has been run by Gregers' father, Count Michael, since 1992.

Who else was in attendance?

Frederik's nephew, Count Nikolai of Monpezat, 26, was pictured at the wedding alongside his long-time girlfriend, Benedikte Thoustrup. Nikolai, who is the son of Prince Joachim of Denmark and his ex-wife Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, looked smart in a shirt and tie with a black tailcoat and a formal sash.

Meanwhile, his model girlfriend of eight years stunned in a ruched satin Victoria Beckham gown, as identified by Royal Fashion Police. She paired the flattering dress with a gold clutch from H&M and a Cartier watch. Benedikte wore her hair down in a side part and tucked behind her ears to showcase a pair of gorgeous dangle earrings.
