Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are happily settling back into life in the UK – as their latest home video featuring cosy family walks in the countryside proved.
And now the Duchess, 45, has been spotted driving a large SUV in the Cotswolds, where the Sussexes have reportedly settled down, a source tells HELLO!
Being behind the wheel herself on a solo drive without Prince Harry seems to be a sign that Meghan is increasingly comfortable with being back in Britain, as it's rare for her to be spotted driving a car.
When she was a working member of the royal family, Meghan was provided with official royal transportation, meaning she would use chauffeured cars accompanied by security.
© GettyMeghan, who was born in LA and worked in Toronto as an actress in Suits, is used to driving an automatic car on the right, especially after spending the past six years in Montecito, California.
Shortly before the couple's 2018 wedding, it was reported that Harry was teaching his wife to drive a manual car on the left-hand side of the road.
Now, it seems Harry's lessons have paid off, and she's getting to grips with the difficulties of British driving.
Does Meghan have a UK driving licence?
As you cannot simply swap your US licence for a UK one, Meghan will have needed to apply for a British provisional licence and pass her theory and practical test to receive one permanently.
However, you can drive for up to 12 months on a non-GB licence, according to the government website.
© GettyIt's not known whether Meghan passed her tests during her previous stay in the UK, when she initially relocated to marry Prince Harry in 2018.
During that time, the couple lived in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park, but also rented a house in Great Tew in the Cotswolds.
Now that they've returned, the couple is known to be living in a non-royal residence outside of London, with reports suggesting that they've made the Cotswolds their new home.
Why do we rarely see Meghan driving?
It's relatively rare for Meghan to be spotted driving herself.
For example, when she visited Paris Fashion Week in October 2025, she filmed herself in the back of a taxi, riding through the French city with her feet up.
Often, it's been Prince Harry we've seen behind the wheel when the couple is spotted driving out, with the Duke usually pictured behind the wheel of their Range Rover in LA. Harry also drove himself and his new wife in a vintage Jaguar E-Type to their evening reception at Frogmore House in Windsor on their wedding day in May 2018.

Indeed, back in the US, Meghan was known to be comfortable driving herself. When she was based in Canada for her acting job on Suits, Meghan had a VIP contract with Audi North America. She drove a £40,000 automatic Audi Q5 SUV, but cancelled her contract early before moving to the UK.
Most members of the royal family are driven to their events and engagements by a driver, but, during their private time, such as stays at Balmoral, we sometimes see them behind the wheel.
