Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, the once "happiest divorced couple," may no longer live together, but that doesn't mean they're no longer on speaking terms and united by their roles as parents and grandparents.
"Sarah and Andrew speak regularly and have always had and continue to have unity as co-parents and co-grandparents," Sarah's spokesperson exclusively tells HELLO!.
Co-grandparents to five grandchildren
The former couple became grandparents for a fifth time over the summer, with the birth of their daughter Princess Eugenie's third child, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Andrew and Sarah's third granddaughter was born in Lisbon, Portugal on August 3.
In addition to Adelaide, Sarah and Andrew are grandparents to Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's two older sons August and Ernest, and Princess Beatrice's daughters, Sienna and Athena. Beatrice is also a stepmother to her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's son Christopher Woolf.
Sarah is back in the UK
Since Andrew was stripped of his titles last year and vacated Royal Lodge, the home he and his ex-wife once shared, both he and Sarah have been keeping a low profile amid the fallout from their ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In late October, however, Sarah was pictured for the first time in months at a memorial service for her ex-boyfriend Paddy McNally. The former Duchess was accompanied by her two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and their respective husbands at the service in London. The outing marked the first time Sarah had been seen since April, when she was photographed at a ski resort in the Austrian Alps.
The former Duchess of York is believed to be living in the Home Counties. HELLO! understands that Sarah is readjusting back into life in England and enjoying time with her daughters and grandchildren. She is also in contact with her ex, Andrew, though her spokesperson would not be drawn on whether she has met up with her former husband, who now resides at Marsh Farm.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier previously told HELLO! that Sarah was receiving secret visits from her daughters.
"Friends tell me they have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks. I don't think they want to be seen with her in public at the moment, and she probably realises it's not a good idea either, but behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive," Phil said.
"They're very embarrassed and are obviously sort of reevaluating their own lives and their own contacts and the things they get involved with because they don't want to be tainted by scandal. But I don't think the relationship is quite as close as it used to be, certainly.
"I think the days of them being the tripod and inseparable have been fragmented. They have grown up and gone their own ways a bit, and they've got their separate lives and separate families."
