Cat Deeley is the undisputed queen of taking a wardrobe staple and giving it a high fashion twist. Need proof? Her latest This Morning outfit is all the evidence you need. Proving a knitted dress is far more than just a slouchy autumnal piece, Cat stepped out in a show stopping design that looks like a luxury investment, despite hailing straight from the high street.
Cat's dress is the ultimate 'one and done' dress for effortlessly stylish autumn dressing, and I'm obsessed - especially because it has 20% off right now.
- Cat Deeley looked effortlessly chic on Tuesday's episode of This Morning.
- She wore the Karen Millen Slinky Drape Knit Power Shoulder Funnel Dress, priced at £95.20 / $109.50
- 49-year-old Cat wore the slinky dress with a pair of platform sandals.
Cat's fiery red dress will cost you just £95.20 from Karen Millen, and it's currently available in all sizes from extra-small to large.
The dress is crafted from a slinky, draped viscose-blend that drapes beautifully - it's modest enough to wear to the office while being elevated enough for the evening.
The structured, power shoulders lend a more tailored quality to this knit dress; rather than being a relaxed silhouette, as a lot of knitted dresses are, this commands attention immediately thanks to the sharp shoulders. I love the high funnel neck too, which adds an air of formality to the dress and the long sleeves allow it to be a dress that'll see you through to the depths of winter too.
There's a discreet split at the front to allow for easy movement, and the mid-length hits at the perfect point between knee and ankle.
And if you worry about a knitted dress being too clingy or fitted, take Cat's advice. She shared on her socials how she sized up in the dress, for a more comfortable fit. "The material is a bit clingy, so I got it a couple of sizes too big," she explained.
Additionally, Cat revealed she cut off the belt of the dress. Of course, if you prefer the belt to add definition, keep it on or alternatively, tie it at the back of the dress if you want the versatility of a belt vs no-belt.
It looks like the sort of dress you'd swish in, and who doesn't love that? Cat added a pair of Terry de Havilland 'Lily' Black Block Heels, which gives the dress a more modern, party vibe. For the office, I'd swap for knee high boots or courts, or even flat loafers or Mary Janes - it would look super cute with those.
Cat, 49, loves to experiment with colour too and this bold, bright red is a gorgeous alternative to pink or blue. Flattering to most skin tones, I think silver jewellery would set this off to perfection.
Cat & Alison's matching leopard tops
Cat and fellow This Morning presenter Alison Hammond had a cute, twinning moment; Alison wore the Rixo Suki Jersey Top on Friday's show, and Cat followed suit on Monday by wearing the exact same Rixo top.
The women put their own spin in the animal print top, with Alison wearing hers with a black Next leather midi skirt and Cat opting for a pair of ASOS Tailored Wide Leg Trousers, also in black.
I love that the women celebrated their twinning moment, posting to Instagram to highlight that great minds really do think alike - especially when it comes to fashion.
Other highlights of the week of Cat's outfits include the Sezane 'Mathie' Knitted Midi Dress, and a smart Farm Rio Sand Embroidery Co-ord, consisting of a long-sleeved blouse and pencil skirt.
