Suede season is officially open! Just ask Cat Deeley, who has not only been spotted in a suede River Island skirt and a suede Mint Velvet dress, but now suede boots - see, it's time to let suede shine.
Thanks to Cat's latest This Morning outfit, I'm giving my leather boots a break and embracing something a little softer, more tactile and dare I say it, comfier.
Suede boots always have a moment in autumn, as we transition from summer sandals and footwear like ballet flats, yet not quite ready to embrace full on leather or chunky boots.
Suede boots are always a vibe, and a great comfortable pair will become a wardrobe staple; just remember to protect them before your first wear, and they'll last you for seasons. (Crep Protect Spray is an Amazon bestseller, priced at £11.25).
Back to Cat's exact boots. She's turned to our fave British high street brand M&S for hers, the Suede Slouchy Cone Heel Pointed Ankle Boots.
These ankle boots are made from a buttersoft suede, and made contemporary by the subtle ruching detail and leg-lengthening mid cone heel.
The heel is 50mm, a mid-heel that will add a little height to your look while being practical enough for daily wear. They're elevated further thanks to the chic pointed toe, and as well as the colour Cat is wearing, fawn, they're available in black and a rich, dark tan.
Cat's styled her M&S boots in a polished, tailored way, using the boots as an anchor to her Barbour Straight Leg Check Trousers and Zara Pussybow Blouse.
The 49-year-old's smart styling reminds us that suede boots are just to be worn with denim, although that is a definite vibe for the season; in fact, I'd suggest tucking a slightly baggy jean into the top of the boots to showcase the ruched detail, or wear under a pair of barrel leg jeans to add height and depth to your look.
The slouchy style is a reincarnation of the 80s pixie boot style, where boots would sit loose on the ankle and came in every fabric possible, including suede and leather.
I spotted that M&S have created the same boots in a knee high length height, if ankle boots aren't for you. These come in black and a khaki brown, and feature the same ruching detailing and slouchy silhouette.
What do M&S shoppers think of Cat's boots?
These are popular M&S buy, with the website declaring them one of their 'trending' items.
The reviews on these boots are all positive; not only have shoppers praised them for their style, but crucially, their comfort. "Great boots for a great price," one review reads. "Super comfortable with a perfect heel height for everyday. I haven’t worn heels in a while and I walked miles in these. They’re so good I’m going to order them in black too!"
Another commented on their fit being "great". "Great fit, very stylish and so comfortable! True to size and the quality is excellent, the heel height is perfect for all day comfort. Love them, and they go with everything!"
