Czech Republic celebrates its 100 year anniversary this year, so if you’re wanting to head there to look back on their fascinating history, why not enjoy your stay with a slice of luxury? The Corinthia Hotel has everything you need to make your trip as comfortable as possible - from the spa facilities to the heavenly bedrooms, so you’ll almost never want to leave. I travelled to Prague to see the sights, and found the Corinthia the perfect place to relax in between during a long weekend.

The rooms are spacious and bright, and if you opt for one of the higher floors, have spectacular views of the city. Plus, if you’re only visiting for the weekend, you can leave your toiletries at home, because each bathroom is kitted out with Espa products to really pamper yourself (which makes a welcome change from flimsy soaps). So instead, I used the free space in my washbag to bring home some souvenirs from the city, which I can definitely recommend spending an afternoon hunting for as their glass sculptures are stunning. I headed to the spa for a long dip in the indoor swimming pool and a massage - the best sort of 'me' time!

Plus, although Prague has plenty to offer in terms of restaurants, the Corinthia is home to a number of fine dining spots if you’re not wanting to head out into the city. I started my days in the Let’s Eat dining area, and there two excellent restaurants to enjoy dinner - The Grill and Rickshaw. Rickshaw’s menu encompasses the full spectrum of Asian cuisine (if you love spice, then definitely order the Kung Kra dish of spicy king prawns in a basil, chilli, carrot, broccoli and oyster sauce) and is in a quiet, intimate setting.
The lounge is a perfect place to relax
If you’re there on business, then head to Lounge 62 for a spot to fire up your laptop and answer emails. Named after the founding year of Corinthia (Malta, 1962), it’s the perfect spot to focus or relax with its extensive menu. Executive Chef Jean-Paul brings an impeccably prepared menu using locally sourced ingredients, which I enjoyed over a glass (or two!) of wine and spectacular views of the city.

Once I had psyched myself up to leave the cosy hotel, I went to the Municipal House to view the Exhibitions of Alfons Mucha, which marked the history of the Czechs in 20 large paintings. The Municipal House made me feel like I was in a Wes Anderson film with charming old fashioned lifts and polished mahogany, and the paintings were breathtaking. Despite being only 20 to view, they were floor to ceiling works of art, which took you on a journey from 1860 - 1939.
I loved the colourful city
Elsewhere in the city, I absolutely loved Mincovna restaurant. Although I thought I wouldn't usually the biggest fan of traditional Czech cuisine, I loved the duck in a cherry sauce and apple strudel, all washed down with plenty of Czech beer. The cosy atomsphere was mixed with tourists and locals and situated in a stunning Prague square, so is definitely a must-try. All in all, I can’t wait to go back to Prague (my Instagram feed certainly loved the chocolate-box esque buildings and cobbled streets), and would recommend it to anyone. And definitely make sure you sample some strudel and beer!
