For the special celebration, she had her mom Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi Cyrus, fiancé Maxx Morando, and friends Donatella Versace and Anya Taylor-Joy by her side.

And not long after, she had a special new addition to the family to introduce to her fans – a 20-year-old African spurred or "Sulcata" tortoise named Teru.

"Welcome home Teru," she shared on Instagram along with the full story of the adoption from Wags and Walks, a nonprofit dog rescue that provides shelter and rehabilitation facilities for at-risk dogs and helps them find new homes. And apparently, now tortoises.

"You truly never know who you'll find in a shelter," a post from the organization itself began. "This past week, we welcomed our very first tortoise into rescue. Meet Teru, a 20-year-old Sulcata who found himself in the shelter system, something even our team had never seen before."

As it turns out, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. "When we heard that @mileycyrus was hoping to adopt a tortoise, we knew we had to help make the connection happen."

And capped it off with a new addition to the family, a tortoise named Teru

All it took was a bit of reaching out, and soon enough, "Teru officially found his forever home with Miley." And the organization used this example as a message to note how many animals of all different kinds were in need of rescue, shelter and safe homes.

"As unexpected as this rescue was, it's also a reminder of the reality shelters are facing right now. Animals of all kinds are ending up in overcrowded systems, and more pets than ever are in need of safe places to go."

It continued: "Just two weeks before rescuing Teru, our team pulled 29 dogs from a high-intake shelter, many of which were at risk due to severe overcrowding, and the need continues to grow every day."

"Teru officially found his forever home with Miley."

"We're grateful to everyone who supports rescue, chooses adoption, and helps make more second chances possible," they concluded. And it looks like Teru is already becoming a family favorite, with Tish commenting on the post: "We absolutely love Teru!!!!"

Not to mention all the fans who were touched by the story, with one commenting: "Seeing Miley give Teru a forever home while also bringing attention to shelter overcrowding makes this even more special. Animals of every kind deserve love, safety, and a second chance."
