It's been several months of build-up to the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show this fall after seven years on the air.

In February, host Kelly Clarkson, 44, announced that the currently airing seventh season would be its last, and stopped herself from getting too teary-eyed while discussing the prospect with a recent guest.

Singer and actress Rita Wilson stopped by on the NBC daytime talk show on May 27 to discuss her new album, and ended her interview by taking some time to lavish the inaugural American Idol champ with praise, which you can watch in the video above.

A clearly touched Kelly had to center herself after letting the emotions get the best of her, joking: "I'm not crying!" as she went in to hug the Sleepless in Seattle actress.

While no end date has been set for the show as of writing, the "Because of You" singer has since made her return to another NBC property, that being The Voice, most recently as a coach for its special Battle of Champions season.

In her statement announcing the end of the show, Kelly emphasized a desire to spend more time with her two kids, River and Remington, especially in the wake of the passing of their dad Brandon Blackstock.

"Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives," she wrote at the time. "This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next."
