Chris Hemsworth may be one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but even he makes mistakes from time to time. The father of three revealed to Harper's Bazaar Arabia that he was denied passage onto a plane after bringing the wrong passport for his young son.

"I actually went to the airport once, and I had my daughter's passport instead of my son's passport…They kind of look the same," he explained, as his wife, Elsa Pataky, chimed in: "They don't."

"I said, 'Oh, yeah, this is her.' And they were like, 'That's a boy. No,'" he recalled. "So, yeah, that didn't work." Elsa added that neither Chris nor their son could fly that day due to the mix-up.

Down-to-earth

While Chris, Elsa and the kids are constantly traveling, the pair have worked hard to ensure that their three kids, India, 14, and twins Sasha and Tristan, 12, remain humble and down-to-earth.

"I want them to have a great appreciation for everything," Chris told People"I grew up with very little money, but my parents were my absolute heroes. They were respectful, kind human beings and operated in a way that was constantly inspiring and nurturing and kind."

Parenting 101

"As a kid, we had very little money, and my parents saved up all year to just pay for a two-week camping vacation," the Marvel star added.

"Financially, we're in a different position, but I want to make sure they know these things don't come easy. You have to work for it, and you can't take it for granted. Success is more about the values we have and the type of people we are, rather than the material objects that we might obtain."

The art of bribery

Chris and Elsa's children aren't particularly interested in following in their acting footsteps just yet, as he shared on The View. While India appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022 alongside her dad, she had to be bribed by Chris to return for 2026's Avengers: Doomsday.

"In the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set," he said. "She's like, 'I'm not coming! I'm not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?' And I go, 'You are getting paid.' She goes, 'Really? You didn't tell me that.'"

"She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes, and she goes, 'Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?'" he recounted. "I was like, 'You possibly could.' So a slight negotiation and off she went."

Off the grid

The family of five reside in Byron Bay, a coastal town in Eastern Australia, where they all share a love of outdoor activitieslike camping, surfing, horseback riding, dirtbike riding and hiking.

"It feels like summer all year round where we live," Chris told People"We got a big plot of land, a farm with horses, and our kids surf and fish and ride motorbikes all day…and we pretty much do the same."

"It's just being able to enjoy nature. When we go to a city, it's hard for us as a family, because we live outside, basically," Elsa added. "We are in contact with nature all the time."
