At the very top of LIVE with Kelly and Mark on Monday, June 8, Kelly Ripa jokingly told her studio audience: "I don't want any lip," after pulling an all-nighter.
Kelly and her husband and co-anchor Mark Consuelos spent the entire night coming off the high of the 79th Tony Awards, marking Broadway's biggest night of the year, and an extra special one for their family.
Mark attended as one of the leading cast members of Fallen Angels, which was nominated for five prizes (and took home one for Costume Design of a Play). Their son Joaquin Consuelos attended as a cast member for Death of a Salesman, which was the night's biggest winner with six total trophies, including Best Revival of a Play.
The proud parents recalled to the studio audience their experience of recording their son, 23, when he joined the play's entire team to collect their honor, and watching him "process" the win in real time.
Talk then turned to the Tony's after party at The Carlyle, which Mark described as "chic and elegant," with Kelly adding that she was too starstruck to really notice the party as a Broadway and musical theater fan.
"You're such an actor, but I'm such a Broadway musical person, that I was too gagged to speak all night long," the Hope & Faith alum enthused, saying she was surrounded by "all of my heroes," and calling it "my Super Bowl."
Mark then revealed that they threw their own "after-after party," a "sneaky one at the house," referring to the five-storey family townhouse the couple share in Manhattan's Upper East Side (valued at around $27 million).
"It was on the roof, because it was such a beautiful night. And we watched the sun come up with a bunch of friends," the Riverdale star continued. "It was a unique experience to have."
Mark also talked about the conclusion of Fallen Angels. The play ended its limited run on June 7, capping off the season with a Tony Award to its name. Rose Byrne and Kelli O'Hara led the cast, both earning nominations for their performances.
"I'm on summer vacation!" Mark joked to the studio audience, with Kelly quipping: "You're down to one job." He then expressed his gratitude for the entire team for making it happen, especially shouting out the Roundabout Theatre Company for making the experience such an easy one.
Kelli exclusively spoke with HELLO! at the Meet the Nominees press day, gushing of her work with Mark: "I loved working with Mark. He is the sweetest, the most hardworking and actually the funniest guy really – just always so dry and witty."
They also had a go-to pre-performance routine, of which she said: "We stand backstage right before he comes every night – right before we both enter for act three, and we just kind of breathe and we move around and we jump around."
Despite the show being his Broadway debut, he quickly proved to be a natural. "He didn't really need my help," Kelli shared with us. "He's no stranger to a crowd and [it's] mostly [about] just keep the feeling light and remember to have fun."
