There are no Mean Girls in Amanda Seyfried and Lindsay Lohan's friendship.
The former co-stars met in the early aughts while filming the iconic Tina Fey movie Mean Girls, when they were both around 18 years old.
And though their time in the spotlight has taken different forms, with the Freaky Friday actress having an especially tumultuous, highly-documented few years, their friendship has stayed the course.
Amanda, speaking with GQ, noted she has a protectiveness over Lindsay after the "ugly," "outsized bashing" she experienced at the hands of netizens and media for years. "I also wasn't working at that level. The spotlight was on her, no matter what she did."
Lindsay, contributing to the profile, also shared: "We've stayed close because there's genuine trust and respect between us."
"What started as shared experience has grown into a meaningful friendship over time. Now we talk more about life, motherhood and our families. She's always someone I can rely on. That consistency is rare and something I really cherish," she said.
Lindsay, who is based in Dubai, first became a mom in July 2023, when she welcomed her first and only child, son Luai, who she shares with husband Bader Shamas, who she married in 2022.
Amanda, who lives in upstate New York, has been married to fellow actor Thomas Sadoski since 2017, and they are parents to daughter Nina, nine, and son Thomas, five.
Shortly after Lindsay first announced her pregnancy in March 2023, Amanda, during an appearance on Good Morning America, gushed: "[Lindsay is] gonna have a baby! We're all moms!" before revealing: "I had spoken with Lindsay… I interviewed her, actually — it was really fun — when she was like, newly pregnant, but she didn't tell me."
She then explained that she asked Lindsay at the time of their interview whether she would want to have kids one day, revealing then that the fellow former child star only answered with an excited yes, not disclosing that she was in fact already pregnant with her first child.
"She actually was pregnant when I spoke with her and when I found out… It was so [sweet]," she said. When Lindsay first announced her pregnancy in an Instagram post, Amanda commented on the post: "This is WONDERFUL NEWS!!"
During the morning show appearance, Amanda further shared: "She seems ready to pop, I'm really happy," adding: "We all get to do this, I mean it's nice that we're in a new part of our lives, and we really appreciate [Mean Girls]."
