Amanda Seyfried has split from her husband, Thomas Sadoski, after nine years of marriage. The duo confirmed the news in a statement, saying that while their marriage had ended, they would remain friendly and dedicated co-parents to their two young children.

"We have been separated for a while, and it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We've got each other forever – and it's GOOD," Amanda and Thomas told People.

The former couple first met in 2015 while working on the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By, and they went on to co-star in The Last Word that same year. At the time, Thomas had just divorced his wife, Kimberly Hope, while Amanda had separated from her partner, Justin Long.

They began dating around March of 2016, and got engaged six months later, before eloping in March 2017. Amanda gave birth to their first child just days after their wedding.

"We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and just the two of us, and we did our thing," Thomas revealed on The Late Late Show with James Corden. "It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other."

"I'm more excited about this than I've ever been about anything in my life. And I'm also more terrified about it than anything I've ever been in my entire [life]," he added about becoming a father.

A private romance

The couple remained private about their relationship for the most part, yet shared occasional insight, like in Amanda's touching Instagram tribute to her husband in January 2023.

"I met Tommy eight years ago on this day for a play reading and remember feeling calm in a space that usually felt very vulnerable and scary. He still has that effect two kids and 27 pets later," she wrote. The Emmy winner also shared that their parenting styles were like "yin and yang".

"Yesterday, I looked at my husband Tom and said, 'God, that was good parenting. You stopped [the behavior] with your tone,' then I came in...it was a gorgeous moment," she told People.

Amanda added that she knew from the beginning that their relationship "was not going to be everything to me," and that "you can't get everything from one person".

Amanda opened up about their family traditions

She shared with HELLO! that the family of four liked to go on vacation to reconnect with each other and spend time together. "We don't have any real traditions, but vacations are the best time to just be together without the usual work or schedules. We try to keep the days slow and open, which feels like such a luxury," she said.

"[We go to] the Cape. It's our happy place. We love the quiet, the beach, and just having the chance to slow down together. No big plans, just walks, food, and time to breathe," Amanda explained. The 40-year-old has had a stellar run in recent years, with her work on The Dropout, Long Bright River, The Testament of Ann Lee and The Housemaid.
