Olivia Wilde has opened up about her relationship with ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis, revealing how their approach to co-parenting has evolved in the years since their split.

The actress and filmmaker, who shares son Otis, 12, and daughter Daisy, 9, with the Ted Lasso star, reflected on family life during a candid appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. The 42-year-old explained why she believes their children ultimately benefit from their current arrangement more than they did before, and why being single in her 40s is the best decision for her.

During the Wednesday episode, the star revealed: "I really value the opportunity to be completely present with them, and then to hand them off to a very capable co-parent who is very present with them when he's with them," she explained. "Then, I have this space, which is permission to then go work my ass off."

She went on to say: "I actually find this divvying up of responsibility in a way can allow for really amazing parenting because we are always at our best with our kids," she said. "They get the best of us."

The exes, who were linked from early 2011, announced their separation in November of 2020, but the Don’t Worry Darling director and We're the Millers actor had been embroiled in a years-long legal battle over their kids.

According to legal documents, Jason has agreed to pay a whopping $27,500 a month in child support ($330,000 a year), reportedly $10,300 for their son, and $17,200 for their daughter.

Details of Jason and Olivia's financials had been previously unveiled in the midst of their now-concluded legal battle, including his reported $10.5 million income for 2024, and her estimated income of $500,000.

It seems the pair’s legal battles left a bad taste in Olivia’s mouth, who told the podcast when friends of hers are quick to want to get married: "That’s not gonna lead to the result you’re looking for. Because if you are just looking it for it to complete you, you’re not completing that part of yourself."

Olivia considers herself an even better parent to her two kids than she would’ve been if she had stayed married to their father, as she spoke honestly about what co-parenting can actually look like:

"You can be an incredible parent. Even if you are not with them 100% of the time, and you’re sharing them with their other parent - it doesn’t mean you won’t be as good of a parent, you might even be a better parent."

She continued with: "These kids are consistently getting the best of us, in a way that when we were together, was not possible. Because we did not work together, but we work really well as separated co-parents."

"When I talk to people who are just in very unhappy situations, and stay in it for the kids, I’m like 'you’re doing no one any favours'".
