Selma Blair shared a special moment with her rarely-seen son, Arthur Saint Bleick, as she celebrated her 54th birthday with friends and family. The Cruel Intentions star took to Instagram to post a series of snaps from her birthday celebration, including one of her leaning in for a kiss on the cheek while Arthur smiled at the cake in front of her.
Arthur looked so grown up in the photo, dressed in a beige jumper, with his brunette hair slightly tousled. Meanwhile, Selma looked incredible in a burgundy suit paired with white heels, and grinned as her friends sang along to "Happy Birthday".
"Another year. Love in all its forms. Cake, my Arthur, lovely people. Thank you," she wrote in the caption. Selma shares Arthur, 14, with her ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, whom she dated for two years between 2010 and 2012.
The advocate opened up about the trials and tribulations of being a single parent while simultaneously battling a major illness – in her case, Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
"I think since I had him I'd been afflicted with MS, and I didn't know [because] I was diagnosed later," she said on Today. "My fatigue was always the main issue, and as any parent knows, especially a single parent, there's no room for extra fatigue."
She added that she was "in a good spot" now after stumbling her way through parenting, and held firm on issues like piercings.
"He asked for a face piercing. What mother in her right mind?" Selma quipped on the show. "I let him get an ear piercing once upon a time, and he's taking care of it, and it's a lovely little diamond. The face, not gonna happen. That's what I said. I put my foot down."

"He said, 'Why are you so mad?'" she continued. "I said, 'Because I never want this brought up to me again, that beautiful face.'" The star added that she was able to set strong boundaries with him as she navigated her illness.
"I find being a parent with a chronic illness does help me communicate with my son and helped me with some boundaries. You wanna do everything, and kids need boundaries too. He's the love of my life," she declared. Selma battled with alcoholism for several years until she began her sobriety journey in 2016.
"I didn't know I had hope until I saw my son, and I love him more than anything. And I think, 'My God, if he started drinking right now, or if he started doing the hurtful things to girls that people did to me, what would I do in loving to get him on track?'" she said on The Drew Barrymore Show. "We love our kids the most," she added. "And we realize we want nothing to get in the way of that."
After an incident on a flight back from Mexico in 2016, she decided to get sober, which then led to her MS diagnosis. MS is a chronic autoimmune disease that targets the central nervous system and disrupts communication between the brain and body.
Symptoms can range from vision problems to extreme fatigue, numbness, tremors, difficulty walking and issues with memory and concentration.
