Robin Roberts had good reason to celebrate during her mini-vacation from Good Morning America.
The ABC News anchor, 65, last appeared on the show on July 16, but finally returned the morning of Monday, July 27, and shared on social media over the weekend what she'd been up to during her time off.
Robin revealed on Instagram that she'd been enjoying a "staycation" with her wife Amber Laign at their home in Connecticut to celebrate 21 years since their very first date.
As the story goes, Robin and Amber were set up on a blind date over two decades ago by mutual friends. At the time, only close friends and co-workers knew of the TV personality's sexual orientation, but sparks immediately flew between the pair.
Robin and Amber started dating immediately, and in December 2013, the former finally came out to the world with a Facebook post paying tribute to her longtime partner.
In January 2023, the GMA host shared on the air that she and Amber, a massage therapist and holistic wellness online personality, had gotten engaged and were in the process of planning a wedding. They finally tied the knot in September 2023 at their Connecticut home.
"Perfect ending to a restful 'staycation' at home in CT…celebrating the 21st anniversary of our first date!!" Robin captioned a photo of herself and Amber with their celebratory cocktails and their wedding rings on display.
"Who knew a blind date would lead to more than 2 decades as a couple?! We sure didn't because we both cancelled the date more than once…thankfully our friends Alex and Bert were persistent that we meet," she quipped.
Amber also paid tribute to her longtime love, posting a throwback snap of the two on Instagram, paired with a selfie from a more recent outing. "Happy 21 years!! From one of our first pics taken (Indigo Girls) to one of our most recent pics," she wrote.
Amber continued: "We've lived a lifetime of moments together — some effortless, some that asked more of us than we ever imagined. Through every season, we've continued to choose each other, and that choice is something I'll never take for granted."
"Thank you for the laughter, the adventures, the lessons, and the love we've built together. Here's to everything we've shared and everything still waiting for us. Happy Anniversary, my love," she concluded.
It's clear that more than two decades in, the love remains just as strong between the pair. To celebrate their second wedding anniversary last September, Amber penned a gushing tribute to her wife. "I will never forget laying my eyes on you for the first time that day, my heart felt like it was going to explode out of my chest. You took my breath away," she wrote.
Of their wedding, she added: "The most beautiful intimate ceremony in our backyard with loved ones followed by the most epic dance party…I mean reception where LOVE filled every inch of that room #LOVEWins and you won my heart forever. Happy two years and forever to go."
