Anna Faris revealed she is not afraid to "challenge" her "religious" teenage son Jack.

The 49-year-old admitted that the pair have had some tense conversations about his beliefs after he asked her to "accept Jesus Christ" as her savior.

"He is… religious," the Spa Weekend star said on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast on Thursday, August 20.

"I didn't grow up with religion. He's asked me to accept Jesus Christ [as my savior]," she continued. "And I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it's going to take a whole lot of long conversations."

Anna, who shares Jack, 14, with her ex-husband Chris Pratt, 47, explained that she isn't worried about asking her son tough questions about religion because he is "as solid as a tugboat, emotionally."

"He just doesn't get easily jarred. He handles situations really well," she added.

"He's impressive, actually. Because I try to challenge him," she continued. "I'm like, 'Do you think it's a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that's kind of a luxury?' And he's like, 'Maybe.'

"Or I'll say, 'What do you think of this mega pastor that's kind of a grifter?' And he's like, 'Oh, mega pastors are the worst.' So it's like, 'Okay, he's getting there.'"

Anna added: "I'm appreciative that he's examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy, starting to recognize hypocrisy, and I'm appreciative that we can have these long conversations."

Anna and Chris were married for eight years

Anna and Chris first met back in 2007 when they starred together in the rom-com Take Me Home Tonight. The pair got engaged the following year before tying the knot in 2009 with a ceremony in Indonesia. They welcomed Jack in 2012.

Jack was born nine weeks premature and, in the early stages of his life, spent a lot of time in the hospital.

Anna and Chris were told at the time by doctors that their son would be "developmentally disabled"; however, Chris later told People that the little boy was doing "amazing" and was "very advanced for his age."

The former couple announced their separation in August 2017 after eight years of marriage, finalizing their divorce in late 2018.

Chris and Anna cited "irreconcilable differences" at the time and filed for joint custody of their son.

As part of their divorce agreement, the former couple agreed to live within five miles of each other for five years to ensure their co-parenting dynamic was not disruptive to their son.

The actress went on to marry cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2021, while Chris tied the knot with Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019. Chris and Katherine share three children – daughters, Lyla Maria, six, and Eloise Christina, four, and son, Ford Fitzgerald, one.

Back in June last year, the former couple publicly reunited for the first time in seven years at Jack's sixth-grade graduation in Santa Monica. The pair posed for a sweet family photograph together to celebrate their son's milestone day.
