Slow Horses' Jack Lowden looks like a different person in photos from before global fame

Long before Jack Lowden was commanding the screen in sharp suits and high-stakes espionage thrillers he was making a name for himself in a very different wardrobe altogether.

Throwback photos from the early days of the Slow Horses actor's career career reveal an epic transformation. 

Back in 2012, at the age of 21, Jack landed his West End debut playing Olympic runner, Eric Liddell, in the London stage adaptation of Chariots of Fire.

In the eye-opening photos, the baby-faced star sported high-waisted 1920s running shorts, a crisp henley shirt, and vintage track shoes.

His clean-cut athletic look was a far cry from the roles that brought him global fame but his performance earned him high praise and critical acclaim.

From Slow Horses to Mr Darcy

Modern audiences know Jack best as disgraced M15 agent River Cartwright in Slow Horses, alongside Gary Oldman.

In the Apple TV show, he favors a slightly disheveled but handsome look with scruffy hair, layered coats, and bruised knuckles.

In a complete departure from both roles, Jack is stepping into the boots of literature's romantic hero, Mr Darcy, in Netflix’s star-studded adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. 

He's been spotted looking every bit the brooding 19th-century gentleman in tailcoats, ruffled shirts, and period sideburns.

Is Jack Lowden the next James Bond?

There's been plenty of speculation over who will be the next 007 and it appears Jack is in the running. 

His name has consistently emerged near the top of bookmakers' odds and fans are hopeful...as is Jack's Slow Horses co-star. 

Gary sparked speculation by stating in a Canadian television interview that the next 007 had already been chosen by producers, adding that he had his "fingers crossed" for Jack.

However, he later clarified his comments to journalist Josh Horowitz when he said: "There's six people on a shortlist. I heard a rumour that they've picked James Bond, but they haven’t announced it yet, which is their prerogative."

He added: "So I do not know [who has got the part], but I'm hoping it's Jack."

Other actors reported to be in the running are Callum Turner,  Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harris Dickinson.
