Hailey Bieber got candid about the harrowing health issue she endured after giving birth to her son, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.
The model revealed that after Jack arrived, she began to suffer from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a severe health condition that presents with symptoms like anxiety, panic attacks, depression, insomnia, fatigue and mood swings.
Inside Hailey Bieber's journey with PMDD
"After I had my son, I struggled with [PMDD] a bit, and there's just not a lot of conversation or research around it," Hailey shared with WWD.
"Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone. When we can identify with each other and have conversations relating to each other and [talk] about the things we're dealing with and struggling with, I do think it makes it feel like less of a lonely journey."
The 29-year-old added that she was passionate about women's health and knew several people in her life who suffered from reproductive issues.
"I feel really drawn to women's health. I have a sister who struggles with PMOS [polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, formerly known as PCOS]," she explained. "I have lots of friends that struggle with it, with endometriosis, with a lot of different, very specific women's health issues."

"As a woman, I feel frustrated by the lack of research, the lack of awareness, the lack of certain conversation around it," she continued. "Especially after having my own child. That was just a really intense and special journey that I had. There's so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth. There's so many things that happen leading up to having a child."
Hailey's beauty company, Rhode, pledged to donate $5 million to the Foundation for Women's Health over three years to support research into women's health issues.
Hailey Bieber's harrowing health scare revealed
The mother of one has been open in the past about her health journey, which hit a major hurdle in 2022 when she suffered a mini stroke.
"A couple of years ago, I had a crazy medical situation. I had a mini stroke," she explained on the Therapuss podcast in 2026.
"Then I found that I had this heart defect that I was born with, so I had to get surgery for it, which sounds really crazy, but they went through my groin, and I was in and out of the hospital the same day."
Hailey added that the health crisis made her "hyper aware" of her body and contributed to feelings of anxiety. She was also moved to create her company, Rhode, due to her lifelong interest in medicine, as she said on the podcast.
"I've just always been really focused and fascinated on health, and it was also kind of what led me to want to do Rhode. My obsession with skincare also comes from my obsession with medicine."
Hailey, who is married to musician Justin Bieber, sold her fan-favorite beauty brand to e.l.f. Beauty in 2025 for $1 billion, and the company has continued to reach new heights with her at the helm.
