'I'd have picked Cate,' says Sienna after losing Robin Hood role

Wednesday July 1, 2009

Much has been made of the fact that Sienna Miller lost out to Cate Blanchett for the role of Maid Marian in the new Robin Hood film. But speaking for the first time about her feelings on the subject, the blonde actress says producers made the right decision.

"If I had the choice between Cate Blanchett and me I'd go for Cate Blanchett," says the 27-year-old star. "Cate's ten years older than me, which is more suitable for the script."

She continues: "If they'd recast with Keira Knightley I'd have been heartbroken but they've gone for something different – and better in my opinion."

It was suggested at the time that the fuss over Sienna's romance with Balthazar Getty had put off studio bosses who had initially picked her out for the role, but the actress says it was changes in the script which ruled her out.

"The script kept changing and evolving to the point where I was no longer appropriate for it," she says.
