Paul Hogan, the star of the hit Crocodile Dundee films, has been allowed to return home to America having been barred from leaving Australia last month over a tax dispute.
The 70-year-old Australian, who lives in Los Angeles, had landed in Sydney to attend his mother's funeral – and was served with an Australian Taxation Order that prevented him from leaving until he settled a multimillion dollar tax bill.
His lawyer said a deal had been reached with officials following a "cordial and co-operative" meeting.
Earlier this week, Paul – married to his Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski – told the press that he was unable to pay "ten per cent of what they are asking."
"I don't have, and never had, the money people think I got," he added.
It has been reported that the Australian Taxation Office were seeking tax on £22.1 million of allegedly undeclared income.
The star has denied any wrong doing and has not been charged with tax evasion.
