'Corrie's 'Steve' dashes to labour ward as baby arrives early

Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson has become a dad again after his fiancée Emma Gleave gave birth to a little boy on Sunday - two months earlier than expected.

The new arrival will be a playmate for their 23-month-old son Alfie.

Bosses helpfully wrote the 34-year-old actor - who plays Steve McDonald - out of his scenes as he raced to hospital to be by his partner's side.

Though they were taken by surprise, the couple already had a name picked out for the little one.

"Harry is my grandad’s name," 26-year-old Emma said previously. "We kind of knew it was going to be a boy, and when they told us at the hospital we weren’t shocked."
