Penny reveals year-long try for second child with Rod

Rocker Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have spent a year trying to give their three-year-old son Alastair a brother or sister.

"I think Rod's touring and running around interferes with things, but we still have high hopes," the 38-year-old revealed in an interview with a British newspaper.

Though the singer has six other children from previous relationships, Alastair was Penny's first.

She suffered two miscarriages before his birth and was treated for pre-cancerous cells of the cervix. Later tests revealed the model-turned-photographer had a cyst on her ovary.

Despite these problems Alastair was conceived "perfectly naturally," explained her spokesman.

"I'm not sure if Penny has considered IVF, that's something which is very personal," he added
