Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle will make his debut at the National Theatre with a new version of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Oscar winner Danny first discussed the idea with the National's theatre director a decade ago, but said he had been "distracted by movies".
The play, which will be set in the early 19th century, will open at the Olivier theatre next winter.
Cast members are still to be decided.
