Catherine Zeta Jones 'honoured' over debut Broadway role

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is to make her Broadway debut in a revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music.

No stranger to musicals, the Chicago actress will play Desiree Armfeldt, who belts out  show-stopping ballad Send In The Clowns among other numbers during the show.

Veteran actress Angela Lansbury will be joining Catherine in the musical which is set in a Swedish country house at the turn of the century.

"I'm honoured that Trevor Nunn and Stephen Sondheim asked me to make my Broadway debut in this beautiful production," Michael Douglas' wife says.

A Little Night Music opens December 13 at New York's Walter Kerr Theater.
