More than eight million viewers tuned in to see what was billed as the last ever episode of comedy series Gavin and Stacey on New Year's Day.
Not that the show's loyal fans are giving up hope that the cast will reunite – in just three weeks, 430,000 people have signed a Facebook petition to campaign for a fourth series.
And it has also emerged there are hopes it will reach the big screen, with cast members Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman – Gavin's parents, Mick and Pam – both showing support for the idea.
But transforming the BBC series - written by James Corden and Ruth Jones - into a film doesn’t appeal to all its stars, especially Matthew Horne.
"I think we tied it up really well," the 31-year-old actor, who plays Gavin to Joanne Page's Stacey, told the Telegraph of the final episode.
"It should be left where it is without dragging it out."
