Chris Moyles suffered lower ratings than Radio 4

Thursday October 25, 2012

Former Radio 1 breakfast DJ Chris Moyles bowed out of his slot after he suffered the lowest ratings he had had in years.

It has been revealed that the comedic presenter left the show after he reached out to a lower audience than he had six years ago.

This meant that the star lost 200,000 listeners a quarter, reaching 6.73 million listeners on its final push.

Radio 4's Today programme, however, accrued 200,000 listeners a quarter.

The show ended up achieving 6.94 million listers aged over 15 over during the year.

Radio 2's Chris Evans may have suffered a 400,000 listener plunge in the summer, but still manages to top the breakfast charts with a staggering 8.55 million listeners.

Nick Grimshaw has now taken the coveted Radio 1 slot in a hope to reach out to a younger audience.

Chris, however, is still signed to the station but there are no plans for the DJ to take a new slot. He will not be paid by the BBC whilst he is not on air.
