Lindsay Lohan arrested after club brawl

Lindsay Lohan has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in a club.

The actress, who rose to fame in The Parent Trap, was arrested over third-degree assault when she got into an argument with another woman at Club Avenue in Manhattan, and consequently struck a woman in the face with her hand. The victim did not require any medical attention.

Stardom has been hard on the actress lately, and she's had a fair few brushes with the law this year. In September Lindsay was accused by a man of assault as well as clipping a car without facing any further charges, and in October the police visited her house over allegations that she was fighting with her mother, which was concluded to be a spat of "no criminality".

Lindsay is also under informal probation after stealing a necklace from a jewellery store last year.

Her latest film, Liz And Dick, in which she portrays Dame Elizabeth Taylor, premiered on Lifetime on Sunday.
