While he was snapped looking strained at a solo appearance on Tuesday, Denmark's Prince Joachim - currently separated from his wife Alexandra - was obviously determined to present a united family front for his young son earlier in the week.
He and Alexandra, who have announced they are to divorce, were all smiles as they dropped their five-year-old son Nikolai off at school on Monday. And they seemed in equally good spirits when they arrived, together once again, to collect the youngster later that day.
Alexandra, who was her usual elegant self in a simple white dress and cream cardigan, emerged from the school holding Nikolai's right hand, while Joachim took his left.
The gesture of unity came just a few days after the official announcement of the split. It is expected that Alexandra will continue to live in Denmark with their two children. The Hong Kong-born princess, who gave up her British citizenship when she married into the royal family, is enormously popular in her adopted homeland.
She is a patron of 21 different organisations, including the Danish Association for the Blind and a home for abused women, as well as the current president of her country's branch of Unicef. |
