While she's not due to give birth until October, Princess Mary of Denmark is already enjoying the company of a brand new family member.

The Australia-born wife of Prince Frederik is practicing her nuturing skills with her new pet Ziggy, a blue-eyed border collie. Dressed in slim jeans tucked into boots, four months' pregnant Mary took the pup for a walk during the Samsung Nations Cup showjumping event in Copenhagen on Friday. The Aussie farm dog, born in Mary's adopted country, was a gift from the Danish Kennel Club.

But Mary isn't the only European royal who is being struck with puppy love as she awaits the birth of a little one. Spain's Crown Princess Letizia, who is due in November, was also the recipient of a furry bundle of joy while on a recent visit to the Balearic Islands with her husband, Crown Prince Felipe.

The former newsreader looked thrilled to cuddle up with the adorable brown and white puppy, whose name is Valiente meaning "brave" in Spanish.
