As the equestrian competition heated up at the International Horse Show, in the style stakes there was a clear winner. The Duchess of Cornwall put in a show-stealing performance at the London event turning heads in an elegant velvet frock-coat which has proved a firm favourite over the years.
A creation from Robinson Valentine - the design duo behind Camilla's wedding outfits - the warm fabric and rich hue of the flowing coat dress have clearly made it the perfect choice for formal but chilly occasions.
And the ever-practical Duchess is obviously keen to get as much mileage as possible out of the flattering design, wearing it in February 2004 to attend a Shakespeare festival, and again to a charity gala the following month.
As the weather grew cool again after the summer, it had reappeared in her wardrobe, putting in an appearance when she switched on the Christmas lights in London's Burlington Arcade.
Camilla also has a longer burgundy version of the design, whcih recently gained the seal of approval of glamour girl Jordan when she was presented to the Prince of Wales and his wife at the Royal Variety Performance earlier this month. "Lovely frock you've got there," admired the curvaceous beauty, as she greeted the Duchess.
