With a traditional fashion sense that remains timeless decades later, it's not surprising that members of the royal family are known for emulating one another's style.
History appeared to repeat itself with Princess Charlotte when she stepped out in an almost identical outfit to her royal relative Zara Tindall – exactly 30 years later.
Back in 2018, the Prince and Princess of Wales released adorable photos of their daughter as she began her first day of nursery. Looking smart for the milestone, the young Princess, two, smiled angelically as she sat on the steps in an Amaia red coat featuring silver buttons and tiny pockets, which she teamed with matching ruby Mary-Jane shoes from Doña Carmen.
Keeping warm in the cool January weather, she added cosy grey tights, a clashing pastel pink scarf from Crown Princess Marie-Chantal's brand, and a co-ordinating polka-dot backpack from Cath Kidston. The choice of accessories was not surprising considering Princess Kate admitted pink was Charlotte's favourite colour during a 2017 visit to the Hornsey Road Children's Centre in London.
Royal fans may have spotted that Charlotte's first cousin once removed Zara (née Phillips) had a similar fashion sense in her childhood, even down to the hairstyle!
Casting our minds back three decades, Princess Anne's daughter joined the late Princess Diana at an Easter service at St George's Chapel in Windsor in April 1988.

Zara appears just as comfortable dressing up for Ascot as she does enjoying a low-key day out in jeans with her husband Mike Tindall and their three children Mia, Lena and Lucas.
© GettyThe former Olympian previously told the Telegraph that her sartorial choices have been influenced by her mother Princess Anne. Although she is known as one of the hardest-working royals, Anne is also loved for her no-fuss, practical attitude and her penchant for sustainable fashion.
"I don't really enjoy shopping. I'm more of an online shopper. It's a case of when needs must, for me," Zara said.
Speaking of her everyday style, she added: "My style is very, very casual. Especially if I'm just at home with the children in the country. It's jeans, flat boots or trainers and then a gilet or a coat over the top.
"Through the years, whenever going to an occasion, the main lesson that my mother taught us was just to make sure that you look presentable, clean and tidy. That was always handed down to us."
