The Princess of Wales wore a necklace with a very special connection to her daughter, Princess Charlotte, for a poignant outing in London on Friday.

Princess Kate paid a visit to Royal Marsden Hospital, where she underwent her chemotherapy treatment in 2024, on 11 September and met with cancer patients. The royal, who looked lovely in a green Suzannah London dress with her hair glamorously curled, kept her daughter close to her heart for the day with a gorgeous diamond neckline that she wore for Charlotte's christening in 2015.

Kate wore the 18-carat white gold 'Empress' necklace by luxury jeweller Mappin & Webb, which features a diamond pendant on a delicate chain and retails for £2,250. In the decade since her daughter's christening, Kate has worn the necklace for a number of public outings, including during a lunch outing to mark the late Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday celebrations in June 2016.

Kate's stylish look for Charlotte's christening

For her daughter's christening, Kate wore a pair of brilliant matching earrings from the same luxury jewellery set. The Prince and Princess of Wales' daughter was christened on 5 July 2015 at the St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate – the same church where the late Princess Diana was christened.

The then-Duchess of Cambridge looked elegant in a white coat dress by Alexander McQueen, which featured long sleeves and was cinched at the waist. Kate wore her hair in a chic low chignon beneath a flower-adorned Jane Taylor hat, showing off her 'Empress' earrings by Mappin & Webb.

Kate's 'meaningful' jewellery

The earrings, which feature 18-carat white gold and round brilliant cut diamonds, retail for £3,750. Kate wore the earrings again last November for The Future Workforce Summit, pairing them with a ruffled blouse and blazer for a sophisticated, business-appropriate look.

"These classic Mappin & Webb earrings are a beautifully refined choice, known for their delicate openwork design and quietly luxurious sparkle,"  jewellery designer of eight years, Trang Do, told us as the time. "The circular silhouette feels timeless and versatile. They're light, intricate, and super elegant without ever competing with the rest of the look.

"What makes their appearance especially meaningful here is the history they carry: she first wore them to her daughter's christening in 2015. Bringing them out again for an engagement tied to her early years work adds a subtle, deeply personal tribute, linking her professional advocacy to her role as a mother. It's a thoughtful, symbolic gesture expressed through jewellery that's both timeless and full of sentiment."
