Martine McCutcheon left the people of London feeling distinctly smitten at the weekend, after her new flick Love Actually had its UK premiere. The actress wowed movie-fans in Leicester Square when she arrived for the screening in a silver-beaded Valentino gown.

Also setting the flashbulbs blazing was Pirates Of The Caribbean star Keira Knightley, who wore a tightly-laced bodice. The two actresses were joined on the red carpet by their co-stars Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Colin Firth.

It was former EastEnder Martine who stole the show, however, and she was clearly delighted with all the attention. "If I never do anything else in my life, then this will have been enough," said the 27-year-old. "Since I was eight years old, I always wanted to be a star at a proper premiere."

In the film she plays a tea lady who steals the heart of the British Prime Minister. Her character is criticised over the size of her bottom, but the inimitable Mr Grant was clearly much-taken with his leading lady's assets. "It's my kind of bottom," the self-effacing Englishman declared to reporters.
