Angelina and Colin say it with elephants

The smiling triumvirate of Hollywood heavyweights from the movie Alexander invaded the historic city of Cologne, Germany on Saturday for the premiere of the epic biopic.

Elegant Angelina Jolie, flanked by director Oliver Stone and Alexander himself, Colin Farrell, were greeted by more than just flash bulbs and adoring fans as they made their red carpet entrance together. Organisers pulled out all the stops to bring a distinctly Middle Eastern feel to the city on the banks of the Rhine, providing a line-up of elephants for the occasion.

While heart-throb Colin and the ever-sultry Angelina opted for subtle black, Oliver donned an eye-catching orange tie to compliment his dapper suit. The 58-year-old director appeared optimistic that Alexander will be successful in Europe after getting off to a disappointing start in the United States.

"People in America are apathetic to ancient history - they are, they don't study the classics like they do in Europe, so there is a significant difference in reaction," explained the director.

He also said he's frustrated that Alexander's sexuality has become a focus of the film for some. Recently a group of Greek lawyers, who deny that Alexander had male lovers, as the film purports, had considered taking the director to court to ask that a disclaimer be shown before the filming warning audiences it wasn't historically accurate.
