"From what I have heard, there are some very interesting unexpected sparks that fly between people from different seasons, so people who perhaps didn't know each other before," said Mel.

"You know what happens at Christmas, it brings out the spark!"

The reunion episode will see 12 former contestants come together in celebration of the festive season.

Fans can expect to see season one brides Alexis, Amy and Nikita take a seat at the table, along with cast members from the most recent series, including Chanita, Jordan, Pjay, Duka, Adrian, Thomas and Johnathan.

While Mel won't be sitting down with the former brides and grooms for this year's Christmas reunion, she will be celebrating the festive occasion in her own fashion Down Under.

Despite hoping for a white Christmas in the UK, the Australia native and her family will be flying back to her home country where they'll enjoy their special day in the sun.

"Christmas is going to be a hot one," Mel said. "It's going to be all about seafood, sparkling Aussie wine, sitting out in the sun and sunscreen!"

The expert also revealed how she and her husband Gareth Brisbane, who hails from Northern Ireland, will blend their traditions.

"Generally, we do have a traditional hot Christmas lunch but we'll mix that up. Christmas Eve is more about the barbeque, maybe some seafood on the barbie and some cold drinks. So it's a little bit of northern and southern hemisphere together," she explained.

In the spirit of breaking traditions, Mel has partnered with Tenderstem® broccoli to help the nation get out of festive ruts, by giving her top tips on how to break away from Christmas traditions which we no longer enjoy, from the same old schedule to the food on our plates.
