Sir Sean Connery made sure the European premiere of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Prague was a special one, donating the proceeds to help victims of last summer's devastating floods.
The 007 star, who was joined by co-star Peta Wilson at the debut, had taken the cause to heart, having experienced the disaster first hand. The floods hit while he was shooting the big-budget adventure in Prague, and at one point Sean was evacuated from his hotel because of the danger.
Tuesday's return to the city was the result of a promise he made to the Czech Republic's then-president to hold the screening in the capital. "On a handshake, I said that if the film was any good that I would bring it to Prague," he said during a brief ceremony at the opening, before handing over a check for more than £37,000 to the former President Vaclav Havel and his wife Dagmar.
The funds will be distributed between two foundations set up to aid flood victims.
