Gayle King has been part of the CBS family since 2011 – she currently hosts CBS Mornings alongside fellow anchors Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson – but is she staying?

That is the question many were wondering after rumors started swirling that she was leaving the network for one of its competitors, CNN, which is in the middle of some restructuring following the very brief launch and prompt demise of CNN+.

Though it was confirmed by NBA legend Charles Barkley that the network was hoping to pair them up for a new show, and The Wall Street Journal claimed in a Monday report that CNN was already "finalizing a deal" to have Gayle as host of a "weekly primetime show," the anchor now insists she isn't going anywhere.

Gayle, 68, recently opened up about what the future holds for her career, at the 2023 Adweek Convergent TV Summit in New York.

Per a story by Adweek, she first said: "I'm very close to [CNN head] Chris Licht. I like him very much," before attempting to avoid answering whether she would actually make a move towards the network.

She joked: "But on that question, 'Me no speak English,'" before revealing that her leaving would require breaking her ongoing contract with her current employer.

She maintained: "Let's just say I have two years left on my contract with CBS, and I have no intention of leaving CBS."

However, Charles, who would be Gayle's co-host on the alleged new CNN show and works as a sports analyst for CBS Sports, had previously revealed that it was because of the veteran journalist that he was considering the offer himself.

Speaking with The New York Post, he said: "They are trying to pair Gayle King and me," before adding: "We don't have anything set in stone. I'm only considering it because of my respect for Gayle."

Gayle celebrated her tenth anniversary with the CBS family in January of 2022. She joined the network following the end of The Gayle King Show, which aired on The Oprah Winfrey Network for only one season in 2011. Gayle and Oprah have been best friends for over four decades, and she is still a contributor to the media magnate's Oprah Daily.
